Well,
almost everyone. Who knew all these toes would turn out so cute. I
guess next time I might try asking everyone to touch their toes to see
what would happen. This actually was just a natural moment, the
truly
best images. When I photograph children especially, I try not to over
coach them. Sometimes you miss beautiful natural images when you try and
ask for too much or try to control the session too tightly.

When
you are photographing portraits, take a moment to grab some images that
are parts of the scene like I did with these guys’ little feet. Images
of just an ear, just a hand, or the back of a head are all parts of the
story. You may not even “feel it” but to a mom all of the parts are
wonderful and will pull at her heartstrings.
I can relate to this a
photo session I had of my husband and I on our farm just shortly after I
had finished chemo treatments. One of the images was cropped just to my
Labrador with my arms around him. To most people, not an award winning
image, but to me, it was a heart tugging favorite and taught me a lesson
to photograph more parts of images for my clients.
